  1. Friday 28 September at 19.30: To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Irish leader Donal Cam O’Sullivan Beare in Madrid, the Embassy is delighted to invite you to a talk at the Ambassador’s Residence (Calle Castelló, 78) delivered by Dr. Hiram Morgan (senior lecturer in History at UCC) and José Luis Hernanz Elvira (Historian at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). If you would like to attend, please RSVP to event@dfa.ie on or before Monday 24 September, as places are limited.

There will also be a history walking tour on Saturday 29 September at 11.15, which will start at the place of his death in Plaza de Santo Domingo and will take in some of the emblematic parts of Madrid linked with the Irish community during the seventeenth century. The tour will take approximately one hour and forty five minutes, and will involve quite a bit of walking. The number of places available for this tour are extremely limited, so please RSVP to event@dfa.ie if you are interested in attending, on or before 24 September. We will take the confirmations in the order in which they are received. Please do not confirm until you are certain that you are going to attend. The tour will be in Spanish and an English text will also be made available.
