Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is one of the most important music festivals in Malaysia and throughout Asia. It has been held annually and uninterruptedly since 1998 in Kuching, Malaysia and has a duration of 3 days. The aim of this festival is to celebrate the diversity of music that exists around the world and therefore have representatives from all 5 continents.
During the festival there are daytime music workshops, cultural exhibitions and craft workshops as complementary activities to the concerts. Evening concerts on the main stage are the festival’s main attraction and international food stalls are spread throughout the festival grounds.
Rainforest World Music Festival has been included in the ranking of the 25 best music festivals in the world by Songlines for six consecutive years between 2010 and 2015. Among the musical performances we can find a wide variety, with performances of traditional music, fusion music from around the world and also contemporary music.
2019 edition will take place between the 12th and 14th of July as announced on its website and includes performances by artists such as At Adau (Malaysia), Ana Alcaide (Spain), Ballet Folclórico de Chile Bafochi (Rapa Nui, Chile), Druk Folk Musician (Bhutan), Kila (Ireland), Ha Noi Duo (Vietnam) or La Chiva Gantiva de Colombia, among other groups that complete the poster of this edition from around the world.
The festival has a strong ecological sense that is demonstrated in its many green initiatives, such as multiple recycling posts, composting of organic waste, an efficient waste strategy or a green volunteer service that ensures the responsible management of the festival.
